The Town
A study of rural and suburban America; places that often appear familiar, repeated, and ordinary, yet still, each town is unique. With these images, I wanted to look at the tension between sameness and specificity. Cookie-cutter buildings, empty roads, signs, lots, houses, and thresholds can be seen as markers of how people occupy space. So then, does the town make the person, or does the person make the town? The Town asks why these places feel so distinct, even when they seem built to be the same.
